Supplementary pensions: Daniel Bacquelaine is pleased with the agreement in principle on supplementary pensions the social partners were able to reach

BRUSSELS – After years of discussion the social partners were finally able to reach an agreement on the guaranteed return to be paid by employers as imposed by law.

This agreement had to be construed in such a way that it again inspires confidence with any and all parties concerned in the field of supplementary pensions, being employers, sectors of industry, pension institutions and last but not least employees.

It was high time to find a solution in order not to jeopardize the further development of supplementary pensions. Therefore the Minister for Pensions called upon the social partners to resume the talks which failed under the Di Rupo government.

Minister for Pensions Daniel BACQUELAINE : “I am pleased with this agreement which contributes to the generalization of supplementary pensions. Following consultation with the social partners I – as soon as this agreement has been approved following consultation with the social partners‘ respective members - will subsequently present a bill to the Council of Ministers.”
